Every Step Counts

I got into this because of my nephew Praneit. He was born with cerebral palsy, and doctors told my family he would never walk. That was the moment the problem stopped being abstract for me.

So we built a robot that helps kids walk. Ten years later, families in over 30 countries use it. I have watched a kid take her first steps at seven years old. I have watched parents cry in a hallway. That never gets old, and it never stops being the point.

But the machine only solves part of it. The rest is money, access, insurance codes, buildings without ramps, schools that are not set up, and a world that quietly assumes some people are not going to show up. That part does not get fixed in a lab.

This September I am stepping up for that part.
